The water disputes between the South Asian Countries provide classic
examples of the contentiousness  of the issues involved in the
management of international river basins. One major cause behind the
failure of these countries in finding a comprehensive solution to these
disputes is their reluctance to embrace the more recent norms of
relevant international law.
